I have two floors retail store which uses escalator first floor to second floor and another for second floor to first floor.

The escalator disconnect, motor are located in escalator pit room underneath the escalator. The pit room light and receptacle are in one branch circuit.

According to NEC 2017 section 620.71 escalator disconnecting means need to be in room or space specifically set aside for that purpose. However when I am not sure if that space would be control room/space or machine room/space for escalator.

When I look at definition for machine room/space or control room/space nec 2017 section 620 its for dumbwaiter and elevator nothing for escalator.

Questions:

1. This poses a problem would NEC 2017 sections:
620.23 branch circuits for machine room and or control room,

section, 620.24 Separate branch circuits for light and receptacles branch circuit pit lighting and receptacles apply or not for escalator pit room or not?

2. Does the room or space for escalator where its disconnects and motor are have to be in machine room/space or control room/space or it can be in pit for escalator?

It appears 620.71 answers most of your questions concerning escalators.
"Machine rooms" are often not involved.
