Hello,
Anyone know what the deal is with EST \ Mirtone fire alarms as far as how you can get them?

None of my suppliers carry them, and I am interested in learning more about them. I'm guessing they are one of these deals where you have to promise to buy $XXX amount of product before they will sell to you.

Thanks for any insight!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or whatever seasonal greeting you may prefer!

You have to be a dealer. They only allow so many dealers in an area. And you have to sell a certain dollar amount.

We go through a separate supplier, the price we pay per device includes the tech coming to program. As far as I know you can't just go to a supply house and order 30 heads a panel and call it a day, maybe you can and then just pay a systems tech.

Thats what I was afraid of. The only thing I really want from them is the small, modern Horn\Strobes they use...but even if I got some, I couldn't use them on a silent knight or fire lite panel.

Oh well, thanks for the replies

You do indeed have to be a "partner" to buy directly from edwards/ge....As for not being able to use the "modern" horn horn/strobes....Not true...They use 24vdc polarity reversing technology just like everyone else. The company I work for is in Ohio and we would be glad to sell you as many as you want.............

Thanks for all the info.

As for not being able to use their h/s with another panel, my concern is in synchronizing the Mirtone H/S with another brand panel.

If you are using a Silent Knight panel, in programming you can select the sync for a number of Manufacturers from a drop down menu. I know some of the choices are Wheelock, System Sensor, Gentex...etc. I'm not sure if G.E. (EST) or Mirtone even make their own H/S's.

GE Notification Availability

GE Notification Availability

1. The GE Genesis Series notification appliances (the small/slim aesthetically pleasing devices, white or red), power supplies, and synchronization modules are all available over-the-counter (OTC) through distribution channels such as ADI.

2. Mirtone is now Vigilant, sister channel to EST. Vigilant is actively recruiting dealers throughout the US to effectively gain market share in the small-to-medium size fire alarm systems market (about 80% of the systems sold today). The dealer commitment in terms of equipment sales volume is not nearly as large as what it would be for an EST partner, by comparison (on average). So, if you desire to use the signals on a regular basis, and if you purchase most of your product OTC, why not become a Vigilant channel partner and take advantage of factory direct pricing?

3. Vigilant VS (small analogue) panel has the most attractive aesthetics of any commercial fire alarm panel on the market (I know its subjective, but take a look at the VS1-G and decide for yourself). Vigilant is also the only manufacturer of an addressable photoelectric smoke detector with a listed changeable chamber- no more hit or miss detector cleaning (not even EST has this feature). VS incorporates remote diagnostics via TELCO or Ethernet that lets you make command decisions before dispatching service technicians. Also, like EST (and unlike anyone else), the SLC loop "maps" its devices to produce a graphical representation of the field wiring that is viewable through the PC software. Mapping shows device wiring like a riser drawing, including all branches (T-taps) and device characteristics.

Edwards Mirtone Panel

Edwards Mirtone Panel

Edwards Mirtone (Now made by GE) is the non0proprietary side of the Edwards line, mfgd by Edwards Signal co.

It is available from any ADI Distribution office. Contact your local ADI branch for more detail. We just purchased one last week and are getting ready to install it. Note that if you order the panel and need dial out capability you need to add the "D" suffix or order the DACT module seperately.
