What I see here and judging from my own exper. I see that alot of us would take classes on estimating. Funny I have searched on Google and other engines but there is no electrical estimating classes. There are other estimating but not electrical. I just want one of my guys go and learn estimating from 0%-100%. This would be great if an actual Forman learned to be an Estimator. A person of know how on the field and know how in estimating. He/she would be a very stong addition to the company. Does anyone knows where to take those clesses?

I think Mike holt has a video or dvd on electrical estimating.
Check his web site.

He says,
" If the code says you can use #14. Folks it is not a better job to use #12"
;)

Accubid teaches estimating? 2 day course is close to a thousand, 5 day course somewhere I think around 3500 to 5000.00. There's a couple of company's that teach. They also give estimates and thing of that nature.

I'm a firm believer and know one can tell me different. I think you need a strong background in the field to become a good estimator.

This sounds great but has not worked so well in practice.
  1. Good foreman are a lot harder to find than good estimators.
  2. Good foreman with computer skills, are VERY hard to find.
  3. Good foreman with computer skills, and estimating skills demand high pay and very often decide they might try their hand at being a contractor.
