Estimating KWHR of a new residence

The HOA/Owner of a new project has requested an estimated KWHR for a typical residential unit in a high-rise building. The project is in DD's and the estimated loads have been calculated per NEC. I am not sure where to start with hours of consumption. Do you assume both users work and are away form home for the day? Do you assume someone is home for part of the day?

Does anyone have recommendations or guidelines for determining KWHR when the project is in DD's? :-?

If you wish to supplement your NEC calculations, there's one method that I use to "cheat" a bit. Find similar existing structures in your area, and get a peak demand profile printout from the power company for those other structures. Your user name is "nittany" engineer. I'm not sure if you're still in the State College area or not, but I know for a fact that Allegheny Energy will do this for you.

Never thought I'd find myself asking this question, but what does "DD" mean?
DD is "Design Development." It is the second of three stages into which an engineering design project is commonly divided. The first is SD, "Schematic Design." The third is CD, "Construction Documents." Support during bidding, construction, or commissioning is generally treated separately.
