Estimating Resort Service Size

Hi Guys,

Are there any design guides or reference books out there that help to size or estimate power needs for resort, subdivision developments, etc, etc. I am working on a large scale project by myself and need guidance in sizing the service(s) for a large resort which includes a huge hotel, multiple homes, shops, etc, etc. Where would I begin? I have no load information except for what type of buildings are on the property and square feet, so this is just preliminary or projected estimates. Any rule of thumbs?

Article 220 of the NEC will give you some help on estimating loads. You'll just have to brake the buildings apart and go from there. When we estimate loads here, we get as much from the NEC and the rest we have to pull from experience. You will definitely need to speak with the mechanical engineer on the project or find one capable to help you estimate HVAC loads... from your description of buildings, they will be huge!
