Just wanted to see what ya'll think as for as the best sotware out there for estimating is. We can not afford to get real pricey, just something to help us with.

Produce your own spreadsheet?
That's what I did.

I have been using National Estimator for several years it is great for smaller jobs I have made several templates for the more common work we do. Iset up one for panel change outs so all I need to do is change the number of breakers needed and adjust wire lenghts so estimating is much quicker.

Use Quickbooks Pro for smaller projects it is quick and easy, I have created a typical estimate page with my logo. Then you can create a line item for typical stuff i.e outlets, lights, switches etc. After you have completed the job then you can turn the estimate into a invoice without recreating an invoice. Also with Qiuckbooks you can export sheets into a Excel spread sheet, and you can also import I think haven't done it yet. I haven't used the contractor version so I can't tell you if there is more to offer.
