We recently purchased an ETL listed pressure washer that seems to violate elec codes. Please see the attached rough sketch of the system. There is no short circuit protection on the motor. The feeder feeding the equipment will need to be at least a 60A to supply the heater load. There is also a #12 AWG SO cord feeding the motor starter from enclosure 1 to enclosure 2 which seem to violate the tap rules. Is this allowed on listed equipment or should we modify to provide the correct protection? We plan to contact the manufacturer but I wanted to see what others think. Thanks in advance.

If this is a listed product NEC does not apply. You will need to find the standard it’s listed under and start there.
But I have seen listed and labeled control panels that did not comply with the standard. In that case it was a low quality shop in CA and at great expense to them they had to correct the installed panels in WA.
You may be correct, not all users are knowledgeable about wiring requirements,
Keep us posted on what mfg says
