I am going to a drilling rig in the north sea. I have some information on it. They do not use terms like we do in the U.S. Can anyone tell me what EXIA and EXIB. It dose have to do with area classification. But which one is Class11 and class2.Thanks Pat

ATEX Description

The Ex ia and EX ib refer to the protection required. This would mandate 'intrinsically safe' components. It does not refer to the Zone (probably 1 or 2 for your rig) Here is a useful chart describing the complete rating.
