I have a few questions for someone who is experinced in converting a table lamp from Italy (220) to American (120). The customer purchased an antique (1886) table lamp and wants it to work in his home, He has purchased an outlet and a switch but not a transformer.

If the bulb fits the socket, and the plug fits the receptacle, and the bulb voltage matches the supply voltage, it'll work. A transformer is not necessary unless there is a need to use the 220v bulb.

The customer wants to install a transformer instead of changing anything on the lamp; He has an outlet from Italy and wants it installed in his home.
Now the last time I was in Italy was in 1978 and I wasn't checking out the wiring practices/methods. If anyone can help me in the wiring of the transformer and where I can get one, (or a website) I would be most grateful Thank you.
