Good morning, looking for a little bit of clarification on he pros and con of using a Euserc type main entrance cabinet. other than required by AJH.

thanks

EUSERC (Electric Utility Service Equipment Requirements Committee) only deals with manufacturers. Member utilities specify construction requirements (not standards) for metering equipment only, not meters themselves. The utility reps meet quarterly and inspect, discuss and vote on approval or disapproval of manufacturer's or individual utility's proposals. Individual member utilities can modify or even disregard EUCERC requirements. Some utilities use EUSERC as their construction standards for the metering gear. Many larger member utilities have their own construction standards that may override EUSERC. Best to check with the utility having jurisdiction.

As far as advantages with EUSERC panels, the main advantages are for utilities. Consistency of installations, safety, etc. Also, member utilities are not required to accept certain equipment, even if it meets EUSERC requirements.

I always assumed that EUSERC utilities were mainly located on the West Coast??

I think the farthest west we have is one from Colorado Springs. Western US might be a better description. Manufacturers would be delighted to have more utilities join so that the panels can be made more standard and thus somewhat more profitable. Also might cut down on foreign competition. But a EUSERC panel would likely be acceptable anywhere, even if it isn't required.
