Evaluating Water Damaged Electrical Equipment

I don't believe that it says anything in the code about enforcing other standards, though you could try 90.7 or your city could adopt the standard.

I just love City Attornies, why would you want to try to invent the wheel when it's already out there?

Thanks for the comment.
I kinda thought 90.7, but it really doesn't specifically address existing equipment that may be damaged. It seems to apply to new work because of the wording "at the time of installation". I think the code needs an article on damaged equipment.

What is the attorney concerned about? Are you talking about flood damaged equipment? Anytime electrical equipment is flooded with water it should be replaced IMO. What would your attorney say if you just inspected a flood damaged daycare, passed it knowing the panels were flooded, and the placed burned down , God forbid , with children in it? Their lawyers would have a field day with you, let alone the possibility of jail for gross negligence.

This is equipment in a multi tenant building that was heavily soaked by a broken water pipe.
We wanted the equipment completely checked out by an electrician before the tenants moved back in. The land lord moved everyone back with out doing so.
It's going to court.
