Would a roof mounted evap. cooler require a external disconnect when the motor & pump is cord & plug connected internally? The receptacles are supplied by the manufacturer, but doubt they have any HP rating associated with them. Going to supply a switch anyway, plus a GFCI receptacle for servicing it, 430.109(F) does require HP rated plugs & receptacles when used as a disconnect, 422.33 may or may not apply though, just not sure and having a switch outside that does not require removing one of the pad frames for access to shut things down is nice, since if running going to be rather wet. Motor is 2-speed, 1/2 HP, supplied at 120 volts. 3-pole disconnect switch is motor rated, to disconnect hi/low/pump leads.

I would say with certainty, yes. Anything that requires removing fixed panels to get at does not count as a disconnect.
