Tuesday Jan 17th is exam day for me...so it is fast approaching.

I will be taking the ICC Standard Master's Exam. Therefore, if anyone has any last minute advice or would care to share anything specific to the types of calcs that they encountered on this test I will be grateful.

Redfish has already helped quite a bit via PM.

Thanks!

Re: Exam approaches

Get a good night's sleep before the test date. You will need a clear mind. Also, start off by quickly looking through the test for questions to which you know the answers. It helps build confidence if you start off with a few victories under your belt.

Re: Exam approaches

- Load everything in your car tonight. Your reference material, calculator, writing utentsils, admission forms, everything. This way you don't have to worry about it all in the morning. (and bring two of everything)

- Make the trip to the test center today so you can be sure of the exact travel time and possible problems that may be encountered such as construction.

- Eat a lite breakfast, but do eat. And take some headache medication just before the test whether you have a headache or not. This will avoid having to stop during the test in the case you start to get one. (hit the bathroom too)

- try not to talk to anyone while waiting for the exam to begin. Someone will always make some comment about how "hard the tests are" or how "close they cam to passing the last time", etc.. This stuff doesn't help with confidence. Keep telling yourself that you own the test and keep focused on your plan.

- If you don't have a plan, make one today. Decide how long you will give yourself per question and how you will approach each question, meaning how many times you read it, if you are going to circle key words, etc... This will get you into a rhythm and flow through test at a controlled pace set by you, and not set by pressure or time constraints.

- Good Luck! And tell how you do!

Re: Exam approaches

I passed!!! I will provide more detailed info once I have had a good night's rest...lol.

Let me say this in relation to my other post: ICC does use the motor in the +25% calc if it is the largest load...more on that later as well.

Re: Exam approaches

See, I told ya'll I was tired yesterday...if you look at my last post you will see that I said that ICC does use the motor as the +25% calc.

Well, duh...the calc is based off of the largest motor. What I meant to say is that the ICC uses the
A/C if it is the largest motor. And the reason I say this is:

I had a full building calculation text pop up and underneath the A/C in parentheses it said: this is the largest motor...lol.
