I am working my way through Mike Holt's NEC Exam Prep book. I have come across what, seem to me to be discrepancies. It could be me not working the problem correctly. Is the right place to ask about these things?

Welcome to the forum. Feel free to ask your question(s) here but, for questions concerning the education material itself, you might be better off contacting Mike Holts staff by clicking here

i also am preparing with mike holts exam prep guide and have also found descrepancies. Specifically...instructing to use the 75 deg category for over 100 amp and then later in unit 6 the practice questions not reflecting such

I haven't seen the materials you are describing, so I can't address any specific comments. But whether it is appropriate to use the 75C column depends on many factors. It will be correct in one case, and not correct in another. So you need to look closely at the circumstances, before concluding that a sample problem is incorrect. But as Roger said, Mike and his staff are absolutely open to comments and corrections, and are grateful when someone points out an error in their published materials.

I don't find to many discrepancies per se but the book is lacking in some regards. Especially the logic and steps to arrive at some answers. It's still a good book but it leaves me interpretting quite a few things.

I just ordered this book since Mike's offering 25% off. Might as well take advantage of that while I can. I have several of Mike's books because they are the best and provide easy to understand material.

As for the discrepancies, there are issues like this that exist in most electrical educating books, at least that has been my experience. Tom Henry's books have them, Thompson/ Delmar books have them, and so too do Mike's.

Contact MHE at 1.888.632.2633 (1.888.NEC CODE) and they will go out of their way to make right in the corrections (providing there is an error).
