I have just finished taking the master exam. I,am retesting because i have relocated to Evansville Indiana and the state does not recpricate with Michigan. Big difference this time from first time I took it 28 years ago.
I found mike holts preperations very helpful also that the test is very much based on the NEC 2005 code book. Just thought i would help someone with what to expect.

P.S read book the book from front to back.

Test

Hello Frey,

I took and passed (the first time) the master electrician exam in Texas 2005. It's a tough but fair exam and it took a great deal of studying to prepare for it. I have spoken to several electricians who have taken and failed the master exam and here is the common issue: they said they spent too much time answering the questions and when it came to the electrical prints (at the end of the test), they didn't have enough time left to study and work-through the prints.
I don't know what kind of test will be offered for your state, but look to see if any junior colleges in your area offer NEC classes. In Deer Park, Texas, San Jacinto College offer full semsters of NEC classes.
