I am scheduled to take the NC electrical exam in two weeks. Is there time to look up the answers in the code book or do I need to try to answer most questions without verifying the answer?

Thanks

There is time to verify your answers, the intermediate and unlimited are 6 hour exams, I think the limited is 4 hours.

Don't spend to much time on any one question though. You can mark questions you want to revisit as you go through the exam and then go back with your left over time after you have completed it.

Presuming that the testing process allows for this, I would suggest going quickly through the test and answering the ones you know you will get right. Next go after the ones that you think you have right, but want to look in the book to confirm your answer. Don?t go after the ones that you don?t know, and that you need to look up, until you get through the others.

This plan will give you some number of correct answers to start with, and will give you confidence that you can get through the rest. If you wind up running out of time, it is better to have a major portion of the test completed at that point. But if you spend time early on looking up answers, you may have fewer correct answers turned in when the clock runs out.

Good Luck Carter-- I took the exam in NC about 27 years ago. It isn't easy but if you've studied you'll do fine. One of the most important thing to do is to know where things are in the code so you're not spending hours looking for the section. Only 17 % of the people taking the test pass so be prepared. I had a friend of mine who took the test about a zillion times in Raleigh. He would get drunk the night before --- not a good idea. He said that after his 5th failure they had a special parking spot just for him marked handicapped.
Good Luck

Thanks for the replies. Good ideas about approaching test.

I believe this is a computer/on-line test. Can I go back and review questions after I answer or submit (however that works)?

(Is it ok to ask more questions in a thread? I'm new to this forum. Its great. I plan to spend alot of time over the next two weeks reading threads)

Usually one post different question in different threads-- if you continue this one others may not follow it because the title is about exams. So, yeah go ahead and post new threads for different areas of the code.
I am not sure how the online test works-- I would assume you would answer all you can and go back to them before you submit the answers.
