Do any one knows where it says in the Nec code book if a VA clinic(exam room ),has to have hospital grade receptacle . I being told exam room are not patient care rooms, because they don’t sleep in their. Thanks for the help.

Exam rooms are "Patient Care Areas however, HG receptacles are not required in all Patient Care Areas.
Along with Augie's reference to 517.18 see 517.19 as well and the definition of "Patient Bed Location."

Whether or not the patient is intended to sleep there isn't really a factor. As mentioned not all patient care areas require HG. Not all patient bed locations require HG either. Expected medical procedures to occur at the location kind of have the biggest impact on whether HG is needed.

Patient sleeping rooms in a nursing home can be almost a total exemption from needing to comply with anything in 517 depending on exactly what medical treatment is intended to happen in said room.
