What happens if I exceed Solaredge's wattage per string limit?
You know, the 5250 or 6000 W max per string, depending on inverter.

Harmless clipping or potential harm/problems?

(specifics:
Installed 2016.
(E) 4 kW system, 14 mods, SE 3800 A-US INV.
I will add 4 modules.
I'd like to add 4 high power 72 cell 425 W mods.
This would total 5700 W.
This exceeds their 5250 W recommendation for this 3800A-US inverter.)

I understand I will flatten the daily production curve at peak due to 5700 W on a 3800 INV.

1) You violate the warranty, definitely on the inverter and possibly on the optimizers.

2) With those numbers, probably not much else. If you kept going adding too much power, at some point probably when the inverter gives the signal to the optimizers to boost voltage, the minimum voltage will be too high for the inverter to operate and you will kill the functionality. Possibly before that you'll get side effects with controlling voltage that will fry the inverter.
