You don't, you link it and I beleive it's a static link(or paste), meaning you can't edit it from with-in ACAD. You can resize the link to suit, but as I recall that's about it! Once placed you have to go back to the individual excel files if needed!

They (Autodesk) changed the format in that version and in that year and never looked back!

I'm hardly a ACAD guro, but I remember when my friend ran into this years ago.
Linking Excel to ACAD Drawings

copy the part of the excel file you want to insert into your clipboard.

use the paste special command, and then select paste as autocad entities.

it will create an editable autocad table in your dwg file.

To edit it, select, then right click on the XL object and pick OLE->Open. After you've finished editing, you can just exit XL and the changes will update.

I've had odd problems with the XL OLE objects changing size and shape seemingly at random. I always make a defpoints frame around the embedded spreadsheet so I can drag the grips back where they belong.

The absolute best program to use for this is XL2CAD made by dotsoft. I would not recommend using OLE objects in Autocad because it makes the drawing slow and the OLE can become corrupted easily not to mention it doesen't actually link to anything. XL2CAD inserts the table as a block and links directly to the excel sheet. It's very easy to use and is less then $100.
