Exhaust fan over tub

Is it legal to install an exhaust fan ( no light) in a drop ceiling directly over the shower/tub? Type of circuit protection needed? Switch located outside tub area.

Yes, but every one I have seen required GFI protection when installed over the footprint of the tub or shower.

I agree, although it's not an NEC requirement the manufacturer's instructions usually require it. Don't really know why.

I think it is a CYA thing for the manufactures.
