Doing a remodel on a kitchen and the designer had delivered a new Exhaust hood. This hood is replacing an existing hood with a remote fan.
Looking at the wiring diagram and the entrance junction box this is what they provide. A handy box with terminal block and 18 awg wire to power up
lights and red switch leg to remote fan. Called the manufactures tech Rep and asked why such small wire and his reply was this is how we do it all the
time and have not any problems with it.
What is it I'm missing.

If the hood is a listed assembly, then NEC has no say as to internal wiring.
I can pretty much guarantee this hood is not listed by any agency in any country. CL2 cable for line voltage and no EGC provisions.

OP....... I would tell the customer there is no way I'm going to connect this hood.

I didn't say it was listed, I said "if" it was listed.
I do agree it doesn't look like it would be. More like a garage built assembly.
