the Owner added 3/4" studs to an existing brick wall and I know a switch or device plate adds 1/4" so what is the minimum depth required for a junction box to accommodate a basic switch or receptacle? I know they make shallow, 1-gang boxes at 8 cubic inches or 17 cu. in.
I need to confidently tell the owner/Architect the thickness to fur out the wall. I don't want surface mount the devices.
Can anyone help with this question.
thanks,
Tom
