I have a plastic back box with a plastic exit sign and a metal mounting plate between the two. Is it required to be grounded since both the exit sign and back box are non conductive?

The plate has a spot for you to install one but does not come with one. No they didn’t forget it I’ve checked multiple boxes the exit signs came in

I'm sure it's just a standard fixture mounting plate that would require grounding if used with a metallic fixture. I would probably supply a screw and connect your NM ground wire to it. What else would you do with that ground wire?
