i just did the grounding for a high school. They called for exothermic welds at the ground bus. I had to run a cold water , ufer, building steel, fire riser, gas, and ground to transformer. It was insane, The prints didn't mention the building steel, or the gas, but it was in the specs. Is this common now ? It is quite a trick to get six grounds on one 4" by 12" bus bar. You;ve got to lay it out leaving the wires long then fold it back up . We had 500 mcm bare copper

Re: exothermic welds

I've only had to cadweld to the groundbar once and that was just the one #2 lead to the ground ring for Nextel about 10 years ago. Other than that, we normally use 2-hole compression lugs on the ground bar. I don't envy you having to cadweld them all on a groundbar.
