Should you put an expansion fitting at the front, end, middle, or somewhere in between in a horizontal run of PVC?

Other than looks, does it matter where it's put?

In theory it shouldn't matter - the entire run between two fixed points is what needs to be able to expand/contract.

I have not read any instructions on them in a long time, but seem to recall them suggesting to put them at one end or the other - unless the run is long enough it needs more then one expansion joint.

Doesn't matter.

I think the not one end or the other kwired is referring to is the amount the fitting is telescoped at installation. If the fitting is calculated to handle the full stroke, then position at installation should be calculated for the current ambient temperature.

I understand what you are saying but kwired said "to put them at one end or the other"
You said "not to".

I know that you mean don't expand or contract the fitting all the way.
