Are expansion fittings required where ridgid metal conduitemerges from the ground and enters the bottom of an 800 amp disconnect switch? This is an outside location.

Indirectly by 300.5(J). In this area they are not commonly used as there is little need, but if the situation was one where movement of earth was common or expected, 300.5 could be applied.
