experiencing increased resi calls...

I've noticed a increase in calls this week from resi customers. Are you experiencing the same?

I've sold my sold my soul to a couple of secure contract jobs for the next 3-4 months, plus working on backlog, and I'm having to turn this work to some fellow EC's, but its encouraging to hear the phone ring....

its picked up a little over the past two weeks. i'm looking at a 60/40 split between resi and commercial. i've got some new commercial coming up as well. i haven't even bid new residential in at least 6/mo. i'm not very competitive in new residential.

I think you will see a pick up in the resd. service calls with the holidays coming up. Folks will be having parties and company coming in and they are finely getting fixture changed or something else they have been neglecting.

I think everybody will see an increase in calls since so many companys are going under, the trick is to not go under yourself.

I don't see new Resi picking up anytime soon, which I think is good since it will eliminate all the lowballing hacks that infest that end of the market like a cancer. Right now it is survival of the fittest, If you can hang for 6 + months there is money to be made

I'm strictly res. and busier tham I ever have been. I took a weeks vacation 3 weeks ago and have been screaming ever since returning. I'm currentlly booking 3-4 weeks which is big for my one man show.

I figure I need to make hay while the sun is still shining based on some of the posts I have seen here.

I don't think you will ever get rid of lowballers no matter what the economy of the area is like. Some, like at least one member of the forum that hasn't checked in for a while are crafty enough to make a very good profit at it, and fine tune the operation down to the last detail. Others are just plain inexperienced and only learn how to bid once they loose enough money to finally wake them up. Either way, they aren't going away for very long.
