Exploding fluorescent u-tubes

I was about 3" away from a fluor. light fixture with a 6" u-tube in my hand when it exploded. Anyone know why?

Those U tubes are not meant to be straightened. You need a 4' straight tube the u tubes won't bend. :grin:

Seriously there must have been a defect in the bulb and holding the bulb a certain way would put stress on it and it shattered.

Unless of course you hit your helper in the head with one end.:grin:

They used to do that evey time I carried them by the "tie" between the ends.
Especially with concrete floors.

It was probably born the wrong direction and didnt know it till you caressed it the way you did:grin:
probably just a hairline crack
