410.16(B) Incandescent luminarieswith open or partially enclosed lamps and pendant luminaires or lampholders shall NOT be permitted.

Sorry its a no go.

Remember this is for incandescent. If its flourescent, there are some clearance issues depending on where its mounted.

Always better to get someone else advise. Especially if they now better.

This can get involded. First you must know what a "closet storage space" is and then you must know what type of luminair to determine space required. Just check out Article 410. It lays it out pretty well.
