Exposed Wiring on Accessible Roof

I'm looking to quote a job for a CCTV system that utilizes a composite video cable w/ 110V feed to the cameras. I would like to know whether I need to install the cable in conduit on the roof top or can I run it exposed. The cable is outdoor and sun light resistant rated. One roof is an accessible flat and the other is pitched. (probably get run on the exterior of the building.) I have looked through the NEC code and can not find something that addresses this directly. Maybe I missed it...Any help out there?

IMO if your not using it as it's listing (underground),then your using it as nonmetallic sheath cable (334.10), and is subject to the requirements of article 334. Article 334.30 requires supports every 4-1/2' and if subject to physical damage (334.15(B), it needs to be protected by a raceway. Being on a flat roof, i would think that would be subject to physical damage.

Rick must have better eyes than me - what type of cable is it?

Sounds like it's perfectly fine exposed, but I would probably install it in conduit for protection.

Since the op already said it was on the roof, i assumed the above quote meant it was uf cable.

Thanks for the Feedback

Thanks for the Feedback

Cable does have a UF rating...However, I'm wondering "subject to physical damage" Does this mean anything exposed or accessible? Again, thank you for the feedback
