Exsisting or/ not

At what point as an inspector due you say change the whole service? I have had people with a old pull out fuse block panel with the meter in the basement move the meter out side and replace the seu from the w/h down and into the old panel and say that is exsisting! also they have done it with split buss panels and main lug panels. I tell them to install a new m/b panel. The state of NY tells me i'm wrong, am I?

As long as the demand calculation does not require the service size be increased, why would you change it?

The fact is it is existing and all they did was change the supply conductors.

Once they change the panel because you told them to are you than going to have them update the branch circuits?

In my opinion you should be happy that they are changing anything and have done the right thing by getting an inspection.
