Extend Feeders

I believe I know the answer but after searching the code book I figured I would ask. I am looking to move a four gang meter socket and need to extend the feeders that go up to the panels. The feeders are off main breakers at the meter sockets so they are protected. Local inspector says he doesn't want to splice them accomplish the relocation and to run new feeders to all panels. Residential install, four family. any issues with splicing feeders?

Smooth the inspectors ruffled feathers...
Show him this and tell him you always use plenty of tape :D

Seriously, as Iwire notes, it's not a case of his "wants". If you can accomplish it in a Code complaint manner, his job is to approve it.

On the other hand, you may use his 'concern' to your advantage and tell the owner an unspliced cable would be better and get more work.

There is nothing wrong with splices there are billions of them out there. The inspector is as Bob stated, "incorrect".
