extened life smoke decetors

Smoke decetors with ten year battery life are now avaiable. Yes I know these do not meet building code because they are battery

only. With that said what are your experiences with these ?

I have never used them but You can get the same battery life out of any standard smoke alarm. Just install Lithium 9V batteries. They are around $6-$10 each. I will frequently replace the standard included battery with Lithiums when installing the alrams in places that will be next to impossible for the homeowners to access such as a vaulted ceiling 25' off finished floor.
