I'll be getting a natural gas hot water heater that requires 120v power. Any outlet will do fine -- doesn't require a dedicated circuit. The unit comes with a 6 ft power cord. The unit will be mounted about 10 ft from the nearest outlet. Does code permit the use of an extension cord for this? Or do I need to install a new outlet?
