sorry, i did not have a camera with me today...

i went looking for an extension cord today on a site and found the [unplugged] male end of one that ran through a doorway to another room. i am glad i walked around to find the other end before plugging the male end into an outlet. it was lying on the floor with its female end removed and the three conductors, bright and shiny copper, smiling back at me from the end.

Almost all my cords are missing one end or the other, in fact I have trouble finding a whole ext cord.. We use them for back feeding controls, connecting to panels for temp power, ect...

At least you didn't find another male plug at the other end, with the male end plugged into an outlet.

One of our inspectors thought that was a great idea for powering up panels. just plug one end into the convenince outlet in the panel and the other into the wall.

I about had a fit when I saw it.

The things people will do to save themselves 30 seconds of work that someone else is paying them to do.

Somehow that just sounds wrong.
But havent we grown as a society? Perhaps we should no longer frown on such practices.

You know that was a good stab at humour Larry;)
As I PM'ed someone who brought the innuendo to my attention:

I thought that for a fleeting moment, but after all the stuff of mine that's been deleted, I said "Naaaah, can't be."
I guess I was wrong. D-oh!

Added: In case anyone else had a 'D-oh!' moment, I was referring to a double-ended cord.

You mean a 'suicide' cord, with a male cord cap on each end?
That's the one. You gotta watch the innuendos around here.

I had an older couple quite perturbed at me because I wouldn't install a receptacle for them to re-use the 'suicide cord' they brought with their portable when they moved.

I did it right anyway. New female twist-lock and male inlet.

You know, straight wiring. None of that bizarre stuff.

Added: How come nobody seems to object to female-to-female cords?
