Exterior disconnect on a detached garage. I have been told yes you need one and no you don't. . There is no disconnecting means within site of the garage in fact there is not one on the house either just a meter socket. One inspector told me as long as there is a disconnect inside the garage you're good since this is not a dwelling. Thanks in advance for your help!

A detached structure requires a disconnecting means at the structure. It doesn't matter if there is one within sight elsewhere.
That changes in the 2026...it can be located in accordance with 110.29, in addition to being on the structure, or in the structure nearest the entrance of the supply conductors.
