I wonder how tough it is to get a UL listing these days? Apparently not too difficult. Not the first time I've seen a ceiling box fail.

That was a paddle fan acceptable box?

sure doesn't look like it.

do you have a picture of the inside-back of the box with listing info?
 
Yes, it's a ceiling fan rated plastic box. I installed it about 4 years ago. Was there to install a different fan and discovered this. There was no tell tale symptom until the fan was removed. The opposite end of the box was just fine.

I've never seen one of those boxes rated for a paddle fan. Besides It's been a long time that code requires independent support. I will bet ya that that box aint have such a listing. :blink:

Believe me, it is a fan rated box. Code doesn't require an independent support for a fan rated box. I haven't used these in years since switching to Allied Moulded nail on's or Saddle boxes.

50lb fixture not a 50 lb paddle fan. :slaphead:
