I have a 3phase grounded wye pole drop service from utility 480 supply with two 500mcm per phase, is it required that the 500mcm must be used to feed my disconnect, equipment is 350 hp vertical turbine started with auto transformer
 
The service conductors to your disconnect should be sized per 230.42. Basically the sum of the non-continuous load plus 125% of the continuous load.
They may or may not correspond to the size of the service drop conductors (they usually do not)
 
Not sure we understand your question. The thread title mentions fault current. Are you asking about the size of the grounded conductor (that you must bring to the service disconnect)? If so see 230.31 (C) and 250.24 (C).
