Hey everybody,
I'm just curious what everybody's favorite brands are, both dist. equip. and devices (SQ-D, CH, Murray...... Hubbell, Leviton, P&S, Eagle.......)? And Why?

I apologize if this has been discussed already, and would be open to reading through a previous thread.

Thanks,

Yeah it's been discussed to death, so why not some more? I think alot of this is regional. Around here most of the major suppliers carry Leviton devices so that is what we use. If I order from any of my normal supply houses (CED, Rexel, Walters, HD, Lowes) I'll almost always get Leviton. I have no problems at all with thier devices but others on this forum are convinced that the stuff is junk and that every 3rd device will fail. So hey, let's get ready to RUMMMBLLLLE!

Most of the time, I like whichever is sold closest to where I need it and whichever I have a good supply of breakers for.

The rest of the time, I like whichever is cheapest.

Resi panel, Cutler Hammer CH
Commercial panel, anything bolt on. I don't care.
switchgear, I don't care
devices, most, P&S Trademaster
devices, spec grade, Hubbell.

For me, it's often a matter of matching what's there, so I sometimes don't really have a choice.

Square D QO
P&S except dimmers
No preference on emt
I have a load of little detail stuff like what straps I like better and what grounded bushings I like better, but basically if I have QO & P&S I'm happy.

skwer DEE! ---- as far as leviton goes, I love their products. several months ago i made post about trying P&S stuff and that i was getting a 10% failure rate w/ their 3-way resi switches. everyone else on here said P&S were the best and leviton wasn't worth the cost. so anyway, i once again switched to P&S a few weeks ago, and noted it somewhere around here in a thread. anyway, just got called back to the first trim out I did after going back w/ P&S a few weeks ago. guess what? BAD 3-WAYS AGAIN!!!!!!! Maybe that "made in USA" stamp ain't all its thought to be. anyway, you think i'm going to use them again? :D

"Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put on K.P." ~ Robin Williams as Adrian Cronaur in Good Morning Viet Nam

Has anyone had any problems with any brand of ressi panels .Ive been pushing CH and I think im pricing myself out of jobs. Ive been thinking using BRs.Does anyone notice home owners that care what type of panel you use?

I had a homeowner insist on GE. Owned all GE appliances too.

Leviton for switches and receptacles, Lutron for dimmers, GE panels. That's what the supply house carries. Never had any problems with anything not working out of the box or failing later.:)
