Any of you use an online faxing service? My current fax machine is getting close to the end of its life, and I'm thinking about not purchasing another machine, and go to an online faxing service.

I use faxtopia service you can even port over your old fax number, as far as cost I think it is about the same.

I rried it early in business the biggest draw back was having to scan each page int the computer.I finally bought a good fax/copier now I just put the pages into the machine and dial the #.

I have had no problems with the service but I have to admit that I do not do a large volume of faxing and as Rewire stated in a post above I could see it being a burden scanning and saving/organizing documents constantly if you do high volumes of faxing.

My other issue was the fact that I have VOIP and I had read that faxing over VOIP has a high failure rate, that was the deciding factor for me as far as choosing a email to fax service.

Thanks for the replies. I also do not do a large volume of faxing. In fact, I would say that 95% of my customers, and 99.9% of my suppliers, are on the email bandwagon. I have one customer though who insist on sending me a work order by fax. He sends me on average about 3 per month, and wants my invoices faxed to him. It's good work, he pays quickly, so I'll use the fax machine as longs as he wants to. Since all my invoices are created electronically, I think it will actually be easier to use a fax service. I know it will save me money, because the monthly charge for the fax service is less than I currently pay for the extra phone line.
