Federal Pacific Electric Stab-Lok Electrical Panels

It has recently come to my attention that the above named electrical panels may pose a safety hazard in that the breakers do not trip as they should when overloaded. There is a web site that provides more information (www.inspect-ny.com/fpe/fprpanel. Are you familar with this issue?

it has been discussed a few times with that same link posted. do a search and you'll find a lot more info from people w/ more experience w/ this equipment. i've only run across two of these in my day, and both were replaced mainly because they were inadequate for the loads we were adding.

saw a receptacle got so hot it melted. it was for a bunch of cristmas lights and the fuse on thecord poped or there would have been a fire.it was still hot when i got there.
