I got a call the other day from a company that supposedly supplies a book to government agencies with ads from contractors, suppliers, etc. The idea is that the government has requirements that a certain percentage of work is to go to smaller contractors.

With resi and commercial slowing down I thought I might look into this, although I have never done government work (as a contractor.)

Is this a scam or is it real?

There are all kinds of companies that sell people a listing in a book of some sort. Whether that listing is worth anything or not is another thing.

I am guessing the value of the listing is far less than the cost, but YMMV.
