Federal stab-loc breakers

My client has a Federal Pacific Stab-loc panel. They are not able to afford a panel replacement at the moment. I am replacing 2 questionable breakers.

My question is can I spread the contacts legs on the old breakers a little bit to match the spacing of the Connecticut replacement breaker. Some of the old breakers have a sloppy fit or would I be heading into trouble.

I had experience recently with fed pacific.

The less you touch the better.

You can bend panels cover inward where breakers are so the cover pushes the breakers to the bus tighter.
Infrared scan when appliances run will show loose connections at the stab.
