What is the feeder demand load for a 6 KW cooktop?
Would it be :
A) Column B 3 1/2 to 8 3/4 KW rating

B) Column C - 8 KW

C) Nameplate rating of the 6 KW cooktop

You are permitted to use Column C (result = 8 kw). Note 3 to Table 220.19 also permits you to use Column B, and take 80% of the name plate rating (result = 6 x 0.8 = 4.8 kw). Your choice. Is this a test question?

Yes, the original question asked about branch circuit for the 6 KW cooktop and I was asked about this same cooktop in reference to a demand factor. My answer was Colunm C - 8 KW. My students felt it could be Colunm B.
