I am running an 800A. 3 phase 480v. feeder from a 800A. breaker located in a Switchboard on ground level to the rooftop to supply power to one DOAH ( Dedicated Outside Air Handler) that has 2 sections - each requiring a feed. I need to set a 500A.MOP for one section and a 225A. MOP for the other section. I was planning on bringing the feeder into a trough and tapping the feeder conductors to supply both of the MOP's. Do I need to terminate the feeder conductors into an 800A. OPD and then feed the 500A. MOP and the 225A. MOP.?

You don't have to land in a 800A OCPD on the roof if you can comply with the tap rules in 240. You originate in an 800A OCPD, right?
