Hello heres a good one.
I currently came across a 54 room motel that the owner wants to install one 240 volt, 1 phase, 15.2 amp electric heat / air conditioning unit in each of the 54 motel rooms, the problem I am having is that this is an existing building and when I do the math to figure out the size of my feeder for the heater panels I get 824 Amps, can I apply any deratting factors ??? I found all the deratting factors for water heaters, ranges, motors and so on but not heaters?? I just started work one this but am positive I am missing something, Its been a crazy week and my head is killing me.
I took one heater at 125% and add the remaining 53 heaters as shown below
15.2 X 1.25= 19 amps
15.2 X 53 = 805.6 amps
824 total amps
