For a feeder tap I need to be sure my overcurent device is not more than 10 times my tap conductor ampacity. Is this only for the conductor? I want to tap off a 800 amp fused disconect and run to a disconect. My tap conductrs would have to be rated for 100 amp? How about the disconect I supply? I only need 30 amps so can I down size the disconect as long as my #3 wire will fit in the lug or does the disconect need to be rated at the 100 amp as well. This is for a voltage regulator being fed off the disconect the generator supplies.
