Hey there. I’m new to this forum and see lotta good posts. I am a homeowner building a guesthouse and have upgraded my service entrance panel to 400 A and I’m running a feeder line to the guest house to power a 200 amp sub panel. My drawings show that I need to run three sets of 4/0 and one #6 ground in a schedule 40, 2inch PVC. When I went to source this from my local supply house, they said that I am running to big of cable for 200A. And that a 4/0 is not necessary and that I can use 3/0 which would be easier to work with and feed through the conduit much easier as well. I have put in requests to my county planning and development as well as my local power company and I am getting crickets. Can anyone shed light on this? I am going 200 hundred feet between houses. I don’t want to put the 3/0 in and be told it’s wrong and I can’t find solid data to clear me for 3/0. I really would live to go with the smaller lines if possible. Thanks so much.
