I am involved in a marina design. The proposed electrical feeders and conduits will be installed in the cast-in-place concrete deck. These conduits will be passing through the proposed fuel dispensing area of the marina. Can these conduits be PVC with the last two feet in RMC with seal offs or do they need to be RMC all the way.

Isn't anything below grade in such a situation considered division 2?

Edwin,

Section 555.21 generally refers back to Article 514 for gasoline fueling in marinas. The description you have given would sound like an acceptable application of 514.8 Ex 2.

I would caution that there are several other Standards, such as NFPA 30A and 303, that may also apply. I tend to design "ports" under API standards rather than "marinas" so I'm unfamiliar with NFPA 303 and can't give more info. Compliance with Art 514 will usually comply with NFPA 30A requirements with regard to electrical installations.
