Hi

1) Are there any code restrictions/requirements, governing the use of a Three Phase breaker to supply a Single phase load.

2) The load side lead has been looped back and connected to the line side of the unused pole (C). The load side of (C) then connects
to the load.
Is this a recognized/recommended practice?

Using a 3? breaker to supply a 1? load is not prohibited.

However, jumpering T2 to L3, then connecting load to T3 is IMO a very rare practice. Common practice is make no connections to one pole.

Jumpering two poles in series is a very common practice for control panel breakers and motor protective devices that have single-phase sensitivity protection.

There are no UL489 requirements for this type of jumper.

So, what type of breaker do you have?

I see no reason for the jumper on a standard circuit breaker.

Anything that may monitor for phase loss does need the jumper, but that is typically motor overload devices and not standard circuit breakers.
